The tear trough is the groove running from the inner corner of the eye toward the cheek, and under eye filler in Korea softens that hollow with hyaluronic acid gel placed beneath very thin skin. Pixelab Beauty Clinic charges the gel per 1 cc, and its treatment guide allows a flight home on the day of injection, with bruising or puffiness possible for 1 to 2 weeks.

Is it for you?

Who tear trough filler suits, and when another route fits better

Darkness under the eyes has several causes, and filler answers only one of them. A hollow groove casts a shadow, and filling the groove lifts that shadow out. Brown pigment, and thin skin that lets the purple of the muscle beneath show through, are color problems. Gel does not change color, and in thin skin it can add a bluish tone if it sits too close to the surface.

Eye bags are the second common mix-up. Fat that bulges forward below the eye creates a pouch with a groove underneath it. Adding gel under a large pouch can make the whole area look heavier, so the size and shape of the bag decide whether filler is worth trying at all.

Fluid is the third factor. Hyaluronic acid holds water, and lasting puffiness is the delayed problem reported most for tear trough filler with this material (Trinh, 2021). Skin that already swells easily under the eyes is a reason for a cautious first amount.

Usually a good fit

  • A visible groove from the inner eye corner to the cheek
  • A tired look that comes from shadow more than color
  • Mild to moderate hollowing with reasonable skin thickness
  • Earlier under-eye filler you want assessed or dissolved
  • Happy to start with a small amount and review later

We may suggest waiting

  • Large, bulging eye bags
  • Dark circles caused mainly by brown pigment
  • Under-eye puffiness that comes and goes with fluid
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • A rash, infection or broken skin around the eyes
  • Past reaction to hyaluronic acid filler or hyaluronidase

How it works

How tear trough filler is placed under the eye

Tear trough filler is a cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel. The same molecule occurs naturally in the skin's supporting matrix; cross-linking slows the rate at which the body breaks it down, and an enzyme called hyaluronidase can dissolve it if the result needs reversing. That option to reverse is the main reason hyaluronic acid is the material studied for this area.

Depth is the central technical choice. The skin below the eye is among the thinnest on the face, and gel placed too superficially can show through as a bluish-gray tint, known as the Tyndall effect, or as a visible ridge. Published techniques place the gel deeper, near the bone of the orbital rim, in small amounts. Either a fine needle or a blunt-tipped cannula can deliver it. A meta-analysis of prospective trials found the side-effect pattern differed by tool, with bruising tied more to needles and swelling more to cannulas (Nikolis, 2023), and those differences belong in the conversation before injection.

Technique itself is not standardized. A systematic review of tear trough methods found no clear safety or outcome difference between needles and cannulas and wide variation in how injectors work, which kept it from naming a preferred approach (Rao, 2022). What stays constant across methods is restraint: the trough is a small space, and an overfilled groove looks puffy in a way that a slightly underfilled one does not.

The overall evidence is encouraging. A 2023 meta-analysis found tear trough hyaluronic acid injection had a low complication rate and high satisfaction (Liu, 2023). Those studies pool many products and injectors, so they describe the method in general and do not single out any gel on this clinic's price list.

Four product pairs are on that list, each charged per 1 cc. The right pair for the tear trough depends on how soft and smooth the gel needs to be for your skin, and that choice is made once your under-eye area has been examined in person.

Cause check

At consultation

Hollow, pigment, thin skin and eye bags are told apart under even light.

2

Marking

The groove is marked with you sitting upright, since lying back changes how it looks.

3

Cream before injection

Numbing cream is applied below the eyes before any injection.

4

Small-volume injection

Gel goes in deep along the groove in small amounts while skin color is watched for blanching.

5

Side-by-side check

Both sides are compared upright, then warning signs and cold-compress care are covered.

Prices

Under Eye Filler Cost in South Korea

Under-eye filler is billed by the amount of gel used, at a set rate for each 1 cc of the product pair you choose. The tear trough takes a small volume next to areas such as the chin or nose, so the cc count on your quote is the figure to check first.

Card prices leave out Korea's 10% VAT; the second figure on each card already includes it, and the tax is charged when you pay. Three of the four pairs carry a retouch note on the price list. When a retouch can be booked and how much gel it covers are not printed, so have both written on your quote before you commit to dates.

Hyaluronidase dissolving has two lines. One covers gel placed at this clinic, and the other covers gel injected elsewhere, where the product used may be unknown.

Safety

Risks of under-eye filler and warning signs

The area under the eye combines thin skin, a loose fat layer and nearby blood vessels, which gives it a specific risk list:

  • Bruising and swelling, which the clinic's guide puts at 1 to 2 weeks.
  • Tyndall effect, a bluish-gray tint where gel sits too close to the surface.
  • Lumps, ridges or uneven sides that show in certain light.
  • Delayed or long-lasting puffiness under the eyes.
  • Infection, or an inflammatory reaction that appears weeks or months later.
  • Blocked blood flow if gel enters or presses on a vessel, which can damage skin.
  • Rarely, vision loss when filler travels into arteries that supply the eye.

Vision loss after filler is rare. A literature review traced most reported cases to injections between the brows and on the nose, while still calling for ways to reduce the risk wherever filler is used (Kato, 2022). For the tear trough specifically, a systematic review of delayed complications found swelling was the main issue with hyaluronic acid and stressed giving people accurate information beforehand (Trinh, 2021).

Contact the clinic at once if the skin turns white, gray or mottled, pain keeps climbing, or you notice blurred vision, double vision or a dark patch in your sight. Hyaluronidase can break down hyaluronic acid gel, and speed matters in a vascular event.

The before-and-after photos on this page were taken at the clinic. How a tear trough responds depends on skin thickness and the depth of the groove, so results vary from person to person.

FAQ

Under-eye filler questions

Can under eye filler fix dark circles?

Only the kind caused by shadow. When a hollow groove casts the dark line, filling it can soften the look. Brown pigment and the purple tone of thin skin are color problems, and gel does not change color. Superficial gel can even add a bluish tint, so the cause is sorted out before any injection.

How long do swelling and bruising last after tear trough filler?

The clinic's guide gives 1 to 2 weeks. Entry points, skin thickness and the amount placed on each side shape where you land in that range. Cold compresses on the first day and sleeping with your head raised help. A white or dusky patch is a different matter and needs the clinic straight away.

Can I fly home right after under eye filler, and how many days should I plan in Seoul?

Yes. Under the clinic's guide, a flight on the day of injection is possible. Any review falls 2 to 4 weeks later and is only booked if needed. One spare day in Seoul before a long flight gives you time to message the clinic about early swelling, and drinking water on board helps.

How long does tear trough filler last?

The clinic's estimate runs from about 6 to 18 months, varying with the product and the area. The under-eye area moves less than the mouth, and the gel there breaks down slowly. When the effect fades, the groove returns gradually toward its earlier depth rather than dropping overnight.

Can under eye filler be dissolved if I do not like it?

Yes, as long as it is a hyaluronic acid gel. Hyaluronidase is used when gel causes puffiness, a blue tint or an uneven contour. It costs ₩150,000 + VAT for gel placed here and ₩200,000 + VAT for gel placed elsewhere, so bring the product name if you have it.

Why does under eye filler sometimes look blue?

That blue-gray tint is the Tyndall effect. Light scatters through gel that sits too close to the surface of thin skin. Placing the gel deep along the bone lowers the chance, and if the tint appears, dissolving the superficial gel with hyaluronidase is the standard remedy.

What training does the doctor have?

Dr. Jongkeun Song is a Korean board-certified plastic surgeon who completed residency at The Catholic University of Korea, Seoul St. Mary's Hospital. Plastic surgery training includes the anatomy around the eye socket, where tear trough injection has to respect the paths of blood vessels.

Is VAT included in the tear trough filler price?

No, the listed figure excludes it. Korea adds 10% VAT at payment, so 1 cc of Amalian or Perfecta at ₩220,000 becomes ₩242,000. Your total is that per-cc rate multiplied by the gel used on both sides, plus any dissolving.

How much is under eye filler in Korea?

It is charged per 1 cc of gel. Rejuviel or Youthfill opens the list at ₩159,000 + VAT, and Restylane or Juvederm closes it at ₩450,000 + VAT. The tear trough takes a small volume, so the cc count on your quote drives the total.

Does tear trough filler hurt?

Numbing cream goes on before the injections. You can still feel pressure and a short sting at each entry point, and the area may feel tender while bruises fade. Bring up any past reaction to topical anesthetics before the cream is applied.

Can I talk through my under-eye concerns in English?

Yes. English is among the languages covered by the clinic's on-site interpreters. Before booking, you can send close-up daylight photos of your under-eye area to our WhatsApp with your questions in English, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Is there a deposit for under-eye filler, and what if my plans change?

This page does not state deposit or cancellation rules. Request them in writing together with your cc and product quote, and read how a change of travel dates is handled before sending any payment.
