Each shot of Ultherapy PRIME lays one line of focused ultrasound points at a chosen depth beneath the skin, and plans are sold in 100, 300, 400 or 600 shots. For Ultherapy PRIME in Seoul, Pixelab Beauty Clinic uses the Merz Aesthetics system and plans a single session, with a review of the result 6 to 12 months later.

Faces and timing that fit Ultherapy PRIME

Ultherapy PRIME is a non-surgical lifting treatment that heats tissue under the skin with focused ultrasound while the surface stays intact. It reaches deeper than most energy devices, down to the fibrous layer over the facial muscles, so it fits faces where the jawline, jowls, the area under the chin or the brow have started to drop.

Body weight and skin type affect the response. In a lower-face study, patients with a body mass index of 30 or below had better results than heavier patients (Oni et al., 2014). Very heavy sagging, or skin that hangs in folds, is beyond what a single session of heat can lift.

Because tenderness and bruising can last several days, the timing of your trip matters as much as your skin. The reasons to wait are listed below; most of them simply mean booking later.

Usually a good fit

  • Loose jawline, jowls or skin under the chin
  • A brow that has started to sit lower
  • Mild to moderate laxity without heavy folds
  • Prefer one session over a multi-visit course
  • Able to allow several days for tenderness to settle

We may suggest waiting

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Open wounds, an infection or inflamed acne in the area
  • Severe sagging where surgery is the realistic option
  • An event or photos planned within the next few days
  • Recent filler or threads in the same area (tell the clinic)

How it works

How Ultherapy PRIME delivers focused ultrasound

Micro-focused ultrasound is ultrasound energy concentrated into a tiny point, the way a lens concentrates sunlight. At that point the tissue heats to the temperature at which collagen contracts, while the skin above and between the points is left untouched. Over the following weeks the body replaces the heated tissue with new collagen, and that is where the tightening comes from.

Ultherapy PRIME, made by Merz Aesthetics, belongs to the systems that show the tissue on an ultrasound image before the energy is released. The image displays the skin, the fat and the firm layer beneath, so the transducer depth can be matched to the face being treated. Different transducers target different depths, from the deep supporting layer that a surgical facelift tightens to the dermis closer to the surface.

A shot is one line of these heat points. The total number of shots therefore reflects how much area is treated and how closely the lines are spaced. Larger faces, more zones and denser coverage on the jaw and under the chin all raise the count.

Published results are moderate and support realistic expectations. In a lower-face study, about two thirds of patients and around 60% of blinded raters judged the skin improved at 90 days (Oni et al., 2014). In Asian patients, the clearest change after treatment was lifting under the chin at 90 days, and the authors suggested a further session could be considered after 3 months (Lu et al., 2017). A systematic review found improvement in patient and investigator ratings while noting that the included studies were limited in quality (Khan, 2021).

Ultherapy PRIME is the newer generation of the Merz ultrasound system, and it is the only version used at the clinic, so every shot plan on this page refers to PRIME.

1

Face mapping

At consultation

Zones such as the jaw, jowls, under the chin and brow are chosen, and the shot plan is matched to them.

2

Numbing

Numbing cream or local anesthesia is used, according to the areas and your comfort.

3

Marking and imaging

The face is marked into zones, gel is applied and the ultrasound image checks depth before each line.

4

Ultrasound lines

Lines are placed zone by zone, and the shot counter tracks the total against your plan.

5

After the session

Gel is removed, tenderness is checked and you receive aftercare instructions for the coming days.

Prices

Ultherapy PRIME Cost in South Korea

The clinic prices Ultherapy PRIME by shot count, so four plans cover everything from a single small zone to a full face with the neck. Because one shot is one line of ultrasound points, the plan you need follows the number of zones and how closely the lines are placed, not a fixed price per face.

Each card gives the list price without tax, then the amount after Korea's 10% VAT, which is added when you pay. If you are deciding between two plans, ask for a written quote naming the zones each one covers, so you can see what the extra shots would be used for.

Treatment day

The face can feel tender and slightly swollen; a same-day flight home is possible

Next several days

Tenderness, swelling or bruising settle over several days and can last longer

Around 3 months

Studies report the clearest changes at about 90 days as new collagen forms

6–12 months

The clinic reviews the result and discusses whether a repeat session is needed

Safety

Possible reactions and risks of Ultherapy PRIME

Heat placed under the skin causes predictable reactions, and a few uncommon ones:

  • Tenderness to the touch along the jaw and cheeks for several days.
  • Swelling and bruising, which can last longer than the tenderness.
  • Raised red lines or welts that follow the treatment lines and fade on their own.
  • Temporary numbness, tingling or nerve irritation, for example along the jaw.
  • Small burns on the surface, a rare event linked to how the transducer is applied.
  • Little or no visible change: in studies, a share of patients and raters saw no improvement.

A safety review found that side effects of micro-focused ultrasound with imaging were mostly mild and short-lived, and that the uncommon events were linked to incorrect technique (Hitchcock, 2014). Contact the clinic if numbness lasts beyond a few weeks, a blister forms or swelling increases after the first days.

FAQ

Ultherapy PRIME questions

How many Ultherapy PRIME shots do I need?

It depends on how many zones are treated and how densely. The clinic sells 100, 300, 400 and 600 shot plans, and the jaw, jowls, under the chin and the brow each use part of the total. Ask for your quote to list the zones, so the shot count matches your face.

How long do Ultherapy PRIME results last?

In most cases 6 to 12 months, according to the clinic's guide, and the length varies by person. Skin keeps aging after treatment, so the clinic reviews the face within that window and judges whether another session is worthwhile.

When will I see results from Ultherapy PRIME?

The change develops gradually as collagen rebuilds after the session. Studies of micro-focused ultrasound measured the clearest lifting at about 90 days, especially under the chin, so judge the outcome at three months instead of the first week.

What is the downtime after Ultherapy PRIME?

Tenderness, swelling or bruising for several days, and sometimes longer. Bony areas such as the jawline, deeper transducers and a higher shot count make the soreness more noticeable. Going out the same day is possible, although the face may feel sore to touch while chewing or washing.

Can I fly home right after Ultherapy PRIME?

Yes. The clinic's guide states that a same-day flight home is possible. With bruising and tenderness lasting several days, it helps to book the session early in your trip and keep photos or events for later, and to pack a cold compress for the flight.

Does Ultherapy PRIME hurt?

The pulses feel like deep heat or prickling, strongest over bone along the jaw and brow. The clinic lists numbing cream or local anesthesia for Ultherapy PRIME. Tell the clinic during treatment if a zone feels too strong so the pace can be adjusted.

Is Ultherapy PRIME different from the original Ultherapy?

Ultherapy PRIME is the newer generation of the Merz Aesthetics ultrasound system. Both use focused ultrasound guided by an image of the tissue. The clinic uses only PRIME, so the shot plans and prices on this page refer to PRIME.

Ultherapy PRIME or Thermage FLX for sagging skin?

Ultherapy PRIME places heat in separate points deeper below the skin, aimed at the supporting layer. Thermage FLX spreads radiofrequency heat evenly through the dermis. Both are planned as one session with a review at 6 to 12 months, so the depth of your laxity decides between them.

Do Ultherapy PRIME prices include VAT?

No. The shot plans are listed before tax and 10% VAT is added at payment. As an example, the 300 shot plan is ₩1,400,000 before VAT and ₩1,540,000 with VAT. Your written quote should name the plan and any numbing option.

Who is the doctor at the clinic?

Dr. Jongkeun Song is a Korean board-certified plastic surgeon and leads Pixelab Beauty Clinic as its Medical Director. Facelift surgery works on the same deep layer that Ultherapy PRIME heats, so plastic surgery training covers the anatomy behind choosing depths and zones.

Can I ask about Ultherapy PRIME in English?

Yes. There are English interpreters on staff, and WhatsApp messages in English are welcome before your visit, for instance to compare shot plans for your trip dates. We will get back to you as soon as possible.

Do I have to pay a deposit for Ultherapy PRIME?

Terms for deposits and cancellations are not published here. Get them in writing alongside your shot plan quote before you transfer any money, so you know what happens if your flights move.
