Clogged pores, inflamed spots and overactive oil glands are what in-clinic acne treatment in Seoul works on, and Pixelab Beauty Clinic lists two sessions for them: Acne Care and Ethosome PTT. Redness or irritation after extraction can last 1 to 3 days, and visits repeat every 1 to 2 weeks or every 2 to 4 weeks depending on how your skin is behaving.

Who in-clinic acne treatment suits, and when to start elsewhere

Acne forms inside the hair follicle. Oil from the sebaceous gland, shed skin cells and the bacterium Cutibacterium acnes build up into a plug. A closed plug is a whitehead and an open one is a blackhead; inflammation around it turns it into a red papule, a pus-filled pustule or a deep, painful nodule.

In-clinic sessions work on the parts of that chain that can be reached from the skin surface: emptying plugs, calming inflammation and, with heat-based methods, aiming at the oil glands. They sit alongside daily skincare, and for more severe acne alongside medical treatment. A network meta-analysis of acne treatments found the strongest effects for moderate to severe acne came from medicines such as oral isotretinoin and from photodynamic therapy, while peels and light treatments helped milder acne with thinner evidence behind them (Mavranezouli, 2022).

Squeezing spots at home pushes their contents deeper and can turn a spot into a mark. Extraction with sterile tools and a controlled angle is meant to avoid that. Deep, hard and painful nodules are a separate case, since pressing on them can worsen the inflammation.

How it works

How Acne Care and Ethosome PTT work

Acne Care is listed among the clinic's facial treatments as a dedicated acne session. The clinic's recovery note refers to redness after extraction, so emptying clogged pores is part of the visit. Extraction lifts the plug of oil and dead cells out through the follicle opening, which flattens blackheads and whiteheads and relieves pressure in pustules that are ready to drain.

Ethosome PTT combines two ideas. An ethosome is a soft lipid vesicle made with ethanol, designed to carry an ingredient through the outer skin layer and into hair follicles. PTT stands for photothermal therapy, in which light is converted into heat at a target. In acne, photothermal approaches aim that heat at the follicle and its oil gland, where the plug starts. The ingredient and the light device used in this clinic's Ethosome PTT are not detailed on the price list, so this page describes the method in general terms.

Heat aimed at oil glands has also been tested with radiofrequency delivered through microneedles. In a randomized trial, a single-microneedle radiofrequency device that heats sebaceous glands selectively improved acne consistently and safely (Ahn, 2019). A meta-analysis of fractional radiofrequency for acne and acne scars called it a reasonable choice for people with active acne or skin prone to dark marks, while grading the evidence as low (Li, 2022). On this clinic's list that approach appears as Potenza Agnes, which has its own page.

Chemical peels are the other surface method with trials behind them. A systematic review of randomized trials found the common peels worked similarly for mild to moderate acne and were well tolerated, yet the evidence was too limited to say one peel outperforms another (Chen, 2018).

Spacing follows the skin. The clinic's guide sets visits 1 to 2 weeks or 2 to 4 weeks apart according to skin condition, so an active flare is seen more often and calmer skin less often.

1

Skin check

First visit

Plugs, inflamed spots, oiliness and any early marks are noted to choose between the two sessions.

2

Cleansing

Makeup and surface oil come off so that plugs and inflamed spots are easy to see.

3

Extraction

Clogged pores are emptied with sterile tools, with or without numbing cream.

4

Ethosome and heat step

In an Ethosome PTT session, the ethosome formula goes on before the light-generated heat.

5

Next interval

The gap to the next visit, 1 to 2 weeks or 2 to 4 weeks, follows how the skin reacted.

Prices

Acne Treatment Cost in South Korea

Both acne sessions are priced per visit, and the list shows no package for them. Because the guide spaces visits 1 to 4 weeks apart, the number of sessions a trip can hold shapes your total more than any single line does.

The figures on the cards are shown before Korea's 10% VAT, which is added at checkout, and the VAT-inclusive amount appears on the same card. Ethosome PTT sits slightly above Acne Care on the list.

Full-face extraction on its own is a separate line among the facial treatments. If extraction is all you want, ask for that line to be quoted next to Acne Care so you can compare the two.

Safety

What can go wrong with in-clinic acne care

Extraction opens the skin and heat-based steps warm it, so the side effects follow from those two actions:

  • Redness, stinging or irritation for 1 to 3 days after extraction.
  • Small scabs at extraction points, which can leave marks if picked.
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, temporary brown marks that are more likely in darker skin and with sun on healing skin.
  • Blistering or a burn if a light-based heat step is too strong for the skin.
  • Infection at an opened pore.
  • A short flare of breakouts after a session in reactive skin.
  • Recurrence: acne can return, and the clinic's guide calls for ongoing care.

Red marks that linger after spots heal, called post-acne erythema, are a separate problem from active acne. A systematic review found lasers and some topical agents promising for them but called for more randomized trials (Kalantari, 2022).

Message the clinic if redness spreads, a treated spot turns hot and painful, pus collects again where a pore was emptied, or a blister appears.

FAQ

Acne treatment questions

What is the difference between Acne Care and Ethosome PTT?

Acne Care is an acne session built around extraction of clogged pores. Ethosome PTT pairs a lipid-carrier formula that travels into follicles with light-generated heat aimed at oil glands. Which one fits depends on whether plugs and active spots or oiliness dominate your breakouts.

Will my face be red after acne extraction?

It can be. The clinic's guide notes redness or irritation for 1 to 3 days after extraction. Many plugs, deep plugs and sensitive skin sit at the longer end of that range. Light makeup is easier once extraction points have closed, and spreading heat or swelling is a reason to message the clinic.

Can I fly the same day, and how long should I stay in Seoul for acne treatment?

Yes, the guide allows a flight home on the day of a session. Length of stay comes down to spacing: visits fall 1 to 2 weeks or 2 to 4 weeks apart, so a single trip may hold one or two sessions. Pack a gentle cleanser and sunscreen for the journey home.

Will my acne stay away after treatment?

Not on its own. The clinic's guide says acne can come back and calls for ongoing care. Hormones, oil production, stress and skincare keep driving new plugs, so sessions are paired with a steady home routine, and severe acne also needs medical treatment.

Do you treat back acne?

The two acne lines on the price list sit under facial treatments, and no body price is listed. Send photos of your back or chest on WhatsApp and ask whether a body session can be quoted before you plan a visit around it.

What are the doctor's credentials?

Dr. Jongkeun Song, Medical Director of Pixelab Beauty Clinic, is a Korean board-certified plastic surgeon. Plastic surgery training covers skin healing and scar care, which matters once breakouts start leaving marks. Dr. Song trained at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital and Incheon St. Mary's Hospital of The Catholic University of Korea.

Do acne session prices include VAT?

No. Prices are listed before tax, and 10% VAT is charged when you pay. Acne Care is ₩150,000 before VAT and ₩165,000 with it. A trip with two sessions doubles that figure, so ask for a quote that lists each visit.

Does acne extraction hurt?

Pressing out a plug causes a brief, sharp pressure, and inflamed spots are more tender than blackheads. The guide lists the session as done without numbing or with numbing cream, so ask for the cream if your skin is sensitive. Tenderness fades as the redness settles.

Is there an English-speaking acne clinic in Seoul?

Pixelab Beauty Clinic has interpreters on site, English among them, so your skin history and aftercare can be covered in English. You can also send photos of your breakouts to our WhatsApp before the trip, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Does booking an acne session require a deposit?

Deposit and cancellation rules are not set out on this page. Before paying anything, ask for them in writing along with the session quote, including what happens if a flight change moves your appointment.

Can I have acne treatment while taking isotretinoin?

Tell the clinic before booking. Isotretinoin dries and thins the skin and slows healing, so extraction and heat-based steps may need to wait. Whether they can go ahead depends on your dose and how long you have been taking it.
