Masseter, trapezius and calf muscles each take a different dose of botulinum toxin, so Botox in Seoul at Pixelab Beauty Clinic is priced area by area and brand by brand: a Korean-made toxin, Xeomin or Allergan. According to the clinic, the effect usually lasts 3 to 6 months depending on the area, and you can fly home the same day.

Who jaw, shoulder and wrinkle Botox suits

Botulinum toxin is a purified protein that blocks the chemical signal a nerve sends to a muscle or a sweat gland. Injected in small doses, it relaxes the treated muscle for a period of months and then wears off as the nerve endings recover. The same action is used in two quite different ways on this page.

On the face, a relaxed muscle stops creasing the skin above it, which softens forehead lines, frown lines between the brows and crow's feet. In larger muscles the aim is shape. The masseter, the chewing muscle at the angle of the jaw, can thicken and square off the lower face; when it is relaxed for several months it tends to shrink, and the jawline can look narrower. A cohort study described toxin for jaw contouring as simple with a fast return to daily life, while stressing that the injector needs to know the facial muscles and the right indications (Kim, 2005). The trapezius along the neck and shoulders and the calf muscles are treated on the same principle with larger doses.

Sweating is the third use. Toxin placed in the skin of the underarms, palms or soles reduces the output of the sweat glands there.

Toxin works on muscle and sweat glands only. Skin that has loosened, lines that stay deep with the face fully at rest, and width that comes from jaw bone or fat respond little, and the conditions in the right-hand column are reasons to wait or to skip it.

Usually a good fit

  • Square lower face from thick masseter (jaw) muscles
  • Frown lines, forehead lines or crow's feet that deepen with expression
  • A bulky trapezius line between neck and shoulders
  • Calf muscle bulk that shows in fitted clothing
  • Heavy sweating in the underarms, palms or soles

We may suggest waiting

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • A neuromuscular condition such as myasthenia gravis
  • Infection, a rash or broken skin where the injection would go
  • A past allergic reaction to botulinum toxin
  • Loose or sagging skin, which toxin does not lift
  • Width from jaw bone or fat more than from muscle

How it works

How botulinum toxin injection is done at Pixelab Beauty Clinic

The price list offers three toxin lines for every area. A Korean-made botulinum toxin is the lower-priced line. Xeomin is incobotulinumtoxinA, a toxin made without the complexing proteins that surround the active molecule in some other products. Allergan's line is onabotulinumtoxinA, the product sold under the Botox name. For trapezius, calves and hyperhidrosis a fourth line, Dysport, is listed as well. Each brand is a separate item at a separate price, and the choice is yours once the area is agreed.

The brands share the same active substance type, botulinum toxin type A, and research on them is reassuring for cosmetic use. A systematic review found short-term safety for aesthetic toxin treatment across the three commercial products studied (Cavallini, 2014), and a phase 3 trial on frown lines found incobotulinumtoxinA performed no worse than onabotulinumtoxinA, with both well tolerated (Sattler, 2010). Units are not interchangeable from one brand to another, so a dose is always read together with its product.

Face areas are priced per area group. Body areas are priced by a fixed dose printed on the price list: 100 units for the trapezius, 200 units for the calves and 100 units for underarm or for hand and foot sweating. The large muscles need these bigger doses because there is more muscle to relax. For the shoulders, an ultrasound-guided five-point injection pattern was reported to work on trapezius hypertrophy in a small study (Chen, 2021).

For underarm sweating the evidence is stronger: a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial found toxin safe and effective for primary axillary hyperhidrosis, with high patient satisfaction (Naumann, 2001).

Prices

Botox Cost in South Korea

Two things set the price of a toxin treatment here: the area and the toxin line. Areas are grouped the way the clinic's price list groups them, so forehead, crow's feet and the frown area between the brows share one price, and the masseter shares a line with the salivary glands and the temporalis (the muscle at the side of the head). The trapezius, calves and sweating zones carry the unit dose next to their name.

Every amount shown is before VAT. Korea's 10% VAT is added at checkout, and each card prints the VAT-inclusive figure under the base price so you can total several areas yourself. If you plan more than one area in a visit, ask for a single itemized quote that lists each area and its brand.

Safety

What can go wrong after toxin injections

Toxin injections are quick, yet the side effects depend on which muscle is treated. The known ones are:

  • Bruising, redness or small bumps at the needle points for a few days.
  • Uneven results, where one side relaxes more than the other.
  • A heavy or drooping brow or eyelid after forehead and frown-line injection, when toxin affects a nearby muscle; this wears off with the toxin.
  • Tired jaw muscles when chewing hard food after masseter injection.
  • Neck or shoulder fatigue, or a weaker feeling when lifting, after trapezius injection.
  • Leg fatigue on stairs or long walks after calf injection.
  • Headache, or rarely an allergic reaction.

The effect is temporary by design. A prospective study on masseter hypertrophy found toxin a safe option, while noting the change may be temporary and repeat injections can be needed to keep it (To, 2001). Large doses repeated close together are generally avoided, because the body can form antibodies that blunt later treatments.

The before-and-after photos above were taken at the clinic after frown-line injection; results vary from person to person.

Contact the clinic promptly if you notice trouble swallowing, speaking or breathing, or weakness spreading beyond the treated area.

FAQ

Botox injection FAQ for overseas visitors

Is a Korean toxin the same as Botox?

No. Botox is the brand name of Allergan's onabotulinumtoxinA. The Korean line on the price list is a Korean-made botulinum toxin type A, priced separately, and Xeomin is a third product. They work in the same way, yet units do not convert one to one between brands.

How much is jaw Botox in Korea?

Jaw (masseter) toxin shares a price line with the salivary glands and temporalis. The Korean toxin line is ₩77,000 + VAT, and Xeomin and Allergan are listed as separate, higher-priced lines. A slimmer jaw outline appears gradually as the muscle relaxes over the following weeks.

What is the downtime after Botox?

Small injection marks or bruising can last a few days, according to the clinic. Uneven movement or a drooping brow is uncommon. Most people return to normal plans right away; skip pressure on the treated area and tell the clinic if any weakness appears.

Can I fly home on the day of my Botox injection?

Yes. The clinic states that a same-day flight home is possible. Because the effect builds over the following weeks, any adjustment can only be judged later, so if you want a check before leaving Seoul, plan your stay with that in mind.

Can I have trapezius and calf Botox in Korea?

Yes. Both are on the price list: the trapezius at 100 units and the calves at 200 units, each with Korean, Xeomin, Allergan and Dysport lines. The two are priced as separate items, and the dose shown is the one on the clinic's list.

Does Botox hurt?

The clinic cools the skin with ice before the needle. A brief sting at each point is still possible, and areas with many points, such as the underarms or palms, can feel more uncomfortable than the forehead. Bruising is a little more likely if you take blood-thinning medicine.

Who is the doctor at Pixelab Beauty Clinic?

Dr. Jongkeun Song is a Korean board-certified plastic surgeon and the Medical Director of the clinic. Plastic surgery training covers facial anatomy, including the muscles of expression and the chewing muscles that toxin treatment targets. Dr. Song trained at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital of The Catholic University of Korea.

Are Botox prices in Korea before or after VAT?

Before VAT. The 10% VAT is added at payment, so the Korean toxin line for forehead, crow's feet or frown lines at ₩45,000 becomes ₩49,500 with VAT. Each area and brand is charged as its own line.

Can I talk to the clinic in English before booking?

Yes. An English interpreter works at the clinic, and you can send a WhatsApp message in English to list the areas you want and the brand you prefer. We will get back to you as soon as possible.

Is a deposit needed, and what if my plans change?

Deposit and cancellation rules are not listed on this page. Before you pay anything, ask for them in writing together with an itemized quote, so you know what happens if your flight dates move.

Will insurance pay for Botox for sweating abroad?

We cannot say whether your insurer will cover treatment abroad, even for underarm or palm sweating. Ask your provider before travelling, and keep the itemized receipt and any written note from the clinic in case you file a claim.

How often do I need repeat Botox?

According to the clinic, repeats are usually spaced 3 to 6 months apart, matching how long the effect lasts in each area. Larger muscles such as the jaw may hold their slimmer shape longer after a few rounds, while wrinkle areas tend to need regular repeats.
