Onda is a microwave device made by DEKA that heats the fat layer while its handpiece keeps the skin surface cool, and Onda lifting in Seoul uses it on the lower face and the body. At Pixelab Beauty Clinic it is priced by energy, 50 or 80 kJ for the face and 100 kJ for the body, across 3 to 5 sessions about 4 weeks apart.

Is it for you?
Who Onda lifting suits, and when to wait
Onda works on soft fullness: the fat that rounds a jawline, gathers under the chin or sits in a pocket on the body, together with mild looseness in the skin over it. Microwave heat is aimed at that layer, so the change it is designed for is a gradual reduction in fullness with some firming of the skin above.
Skin that hangs in deep folds is a different problem. An energy device acts on tissue it can heat, and it cannot reposition skin that has stretched far beyond its frame, so Onda is a poor match on its own for heavy sagging. The second list also covers temporary reasons to postpone, such as broken skin or a recent sunburn on the area.
Usually a good fit
- Soft fullness along the jawline or under the chin
- Mild laxity in the lower face
- A small pocket of stubborn fat on the body
- Wants a non-surgical option with no incision
- Can plan 3–5 sessions about 4 weeks apart
We may suggest waiting
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Pacemaker, or a metal implant in the treatment area
- Infection, broken skin or fresh sunburn on the area
- Heavy sagging where skin hangs in folds
- Expecting the change of liposuction after one visit

How it works
How Onda microwaves work under the skin
Onda is a microwave platform made by DEKA. Its handpiece sends microwave energy at 2.45 GHz, the frequency reported for the system in a published study (Bonan, 2023), into the layer of fat under the skin while a cooling system protects the surface. Fat cells heated past what they can tolerate are cleared by the body over the following weeks, and heat that reaches the connective tissue above is aimed at tightening the skin. Both effects build slowly, so the clinic plans Onda as a course.
The energy is counted in kilojoules (kJ), the total delivered in one session. The face plans come in 50 kJ and 80 kJ, so the second delivers more energy across the treated area. Settings are matched to how thick the fat is and how loose the skin is in each zone.
Onda body: the 12 mm tip and the 100 kJ plan
For the body, the same device uses a 12 mm body tip and a 100 kJ session. The deeper tip is meant for the thicker fat layer found on the trunk and limbs. Which body area that energy covers is agreed when your plan is drawn up, so list the areas you have in mind when you ask for a quote.
What the research on Onda shows
Published evidence is early and small. In a 19-person study without a control group, three Onda sessions reduced waist measurement without severe pain or discomfort (Bonan, 2023). A 47-person study of microwave treatment under the chin, in which the device is not named, reported less fat and less laxity after six sessions, again without a control group (Salsi, 2022). An international advisory board on Onda Coolwaves set out parameters and patient selection, and stated that long-term efficacy and safety have not yet been evaluated (Hoffmann, 2024).
Visitors compare Onda with Ultherapy PRIME, and the difference between them lies in the physics. Microwave energy spreads through the fat layer, while micro-focused ultrasound places small heat points at fixed depths down to the muscle layer.
Area check
At consultationFat thickness and skin laxity are assessed, the zones are marked, and the face or body plan is chosen.
Numbing cream
Numbing cream is applied to the treated skin before the handpiece goes on.
Microwave passes
The handpiece moves over each zone with surface cooling until the planned kJ total is delivered.
After the session
Redness, warmth and tenderness can follow for hours to days; a same-day flight home is possible.
Next session
About 4 weeks laterThe course runs 3–5 sessions, each about 4 weeks after the last.

Prices
Onda Lifting Cost in South Korea
Onda is priced by the total energy delivered in a session. The face comes in two sizes, 50 kJ and 80 kJ, and the body plan is 100 kJ using the 12 mm body tip. Each card shows a single-session price without the 10% VAT, with the amount including VAT printed beside it.
Because the clinic plans Onda as a course of 3 to 5 sessions, multiply the session price by the course length to see the full budget for your trip schedule. If you want both face and body, ask for them as separate lines in one quote so the two energy plans are easy to compare.
Recovery
Recovery after Onda microwave treatment
Redness, warmth and tenderness can start; same-day flight home is possible
These reactions fade over hours to days; tell the clinic if a spot blisters
Next session in the 3–5 session course
Results vary; repeat sessions are used to keep them up
Safety
What can go wrong with Onda, and where it falls short
Heating fat through the skin has these known risks:
- Redness, warmth and tenderness in the treated area for hours to days.
- Swelling, or firm and tender spots in the fat layer; ones that persist need a check.
- Burns or blisters if heat builds up in the skin.
- Temporary numbness or altered feeling in the treated skin.
- An uneven contour, or a change that is modest and slow to show, since fat is cleared gradually.
The evidence base sets a limit as well. A review of non-invasive body contouring devices found little high-level evidence behind them (Nassab, 2015), and the Onda studies above are small and uncontrolled, so a reduction cannot be promised for any one person.
Contact the clinic promptly if a blister forms, pain grows over the following days, or a hard lump does not soften.

FAQ
Questions about Onda lifting in Seoul
Is Onda lifting painful?
Numbing cream is applied before an Onda session. Warmth and a deep heating sensation can still be felt as the microwaves pass, while the handpiece cools the surface at the same time. Tenderness afterward is one of the reactions the clinic lists.
Does Onda have downtime?
Redness, warmth and tenderness can last from a few hours to a few days, according to the clinic. Larger areas, higher kJ totals and how your skin reacts all affect where you land in that range, so time important events with that window in mind.
How long should I stay in Seoul for Onda?
A same-day flight home is possible after Onda, according to the clinic's guide. The course matters more for planning: 3 to 5 sessions about 4 weeks apart, so expect one session per visit. Carry sunscreen and a plain moisturizer, since cabin air dries the skin.
How long does Onda lifting last?
The clinic gives no fixed duration: results differ between people and are maintained with repeat sessions. Published microwave studies are small and short, and an advisory board on Onda notes that long-term efficacy has not yet been evaluated.
What is the difference between Onda and Ultherapy?
Onda uses microwave energy aimed at the fat layer, while Ultherapy PRIME uses micro-focused ultrasound placed at set depths down to the muscle layer. The clinic plans Onda as 3 to 5 sessions and Ultherapy PRIME as one session reviewed after 6 to 12 months.
What is Onda body, and what does the 100 kJ plan include?
Onda body is the same microwave device fitted with a 12 mm body tip, at ₩1,200,000 + VAT for a 100 kJ session. The body area that energy covers is agreed when your plan is drawn up, so name the areas you want treated in your quote request.
Can Onda reduce a double chin?
Fullness under the chin falls within an Onda face session. In a study of microwave treatment for submental fat, six sessions reduced fat and laxity in 47 people, though without a control group. There is no chin-only price; the 50 or 80 kJ face plans apply.
Is the doctor at Pixelab Beauty Clinic a plastic surgeon?
Yes. Dr. Jongkeun Song is a Korean board-certified plastic surgeon and Medical Director of Pixelab Beauty Clinic. Surgical training in facial anatomy covers the fat compartments and skin layers that Onda energy is aimed at.
Are Onda prices before or after VAT?
Before VAT. A 50 kJ face session is ₩550,000, which becomes ₩605,000 once the 10% VAT is added. The 80 kJ face and 100 kJ body plans follow the same rule.
Can I book Onda in English?
Yes. The clinic has an English interpreter on staff, and you can ask about face or body plans on WhatsApp in English before you travel. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
What should I know about deposits and cancellations?
Terms are not shown on this page. Request the deposit and cancellation conditions in writing before transferring money, and check how a missed session in a multi-session course is handled if your travel dates shift.
